As far as I know, two projects are working on online DocBook editors:
- PHP : http://cvs.php.net/viewvc.cgi/doc-editor/
- Fedora : https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/DocBook_Editor_Feature
I'm involved with the PHP project and it's coming along. It's mostly php.net specific today but a goal is to change that, and also offer DocBook friendly text editing.
A live demo that edits the current php.net sources (don't worry, user cvsread cannot commit):
- http://doc.php.net/editor/ (user: cvsread pass: phpfi)
Basically it allows people to login with their CVS account, edit and commit. And allows the world to do the same except a patch is posted to a queue instead of commit.
Such a tool should prove useful to the world of writing open source, and is open for discussion.
Sarma
Danilo had also worked on an online DocBook editor called Sarma a while back. Doesn't look like his server is running it anymore though.
best regards
If you are a website designer, you probably know that having a clear and well prepared style guide can save an enormous amount of time for developer and save the designer from having to explain the design details over and over. That's why I am so glad to be able to find this awesome tutorial. Actually every time I need to learn something I download an audio tutorial by means of http://www.mp3hunting.com SE it saves me lots of time and efforts.
Thanks
Maybe you should consider adding additional videos or charts to your weblog posts to make the visitors more entertained? I mean I just read through the entire post and it has been really great but since I'm more of a visual learner, some more vids and charts would help a lot. Nevertheless, the topic here is really worth pondering about. Thanks again.
